Jim Dempsey Memorial
James Peter Dempsey
Born in Brooklyn, New York on Jan. 11, 1948
Departed on May 7, 2004 and resided in Laredo, TX.
Do Not Grieve for James P. Dempsey.
Rather–rejoice in his memory and the many lives that he has touched. Dempsey was a loving father, an adored lover, a decorated hero and much more. Not a soul alive who had the privilege of meeting him was indifferent to him. So, his family asks that you take those memories of him and learn the lessons he had to offer. Above all, live every day to the fullest and take nothing for granted.
James Dempsey’s lists of accomplishments are too long to list. He was a soldier, loyal to his country in every way, decorated with three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star for Bravery and so many more. He was founder of Halo Flight, ever intent on saving and enriching lives. He was an active Mason and enjoyed Civil War re-enactments- an active member of the 69th Division of the Irish Brigade as well as the 6th Texas Division. He was a father – not only to this writer but to every child that he met, teaching always to be true to yourself, and at the same time not to take yourself so seriously – for when it comes down to it, who else can you truly laugh at? He survives in all of our hearts and leaves behind his daughter, Rachyll Dempsey, Psy. D., his partner, Hillary McAllister, his siblings, many nieces and nephews and thousands of friends. We wish to extend an invitation to everyone who would like to celebrate his life and memory.”

Mr. Jim surely was an honest and forthright person of ethical stature and infinite surprises. I am sure his absence here on earth will leave a hugh hole in the lives of many - but memories he leaves with us will cause the hole to overflow. His desire to ensure everyone's life is safer resulted in many positive improvements to the 9-1-1 program. I only recently was blessed with seeing the many facets of his enormous life, but I have been aware of his professionalism for several years. My sympathies to all who knew him personally.
Jim,
This world is poorer for your passing, but far richer for your life. You were in a class of your own.
The camp of the 69th NYSV will be quieter and hungrier without you. It was a privilege to be your comrade and friend.
As I said in my last letter to you, you are sorely missed.
Lux eterna.
Goodbye Jim. Thank you for your service to this country and for bringing happiness to my dear friend Hillary. Perhaps we shall meet one day.
My prayers and condolences go out to Jame's family.
Although Mr. Dempsey was our manager for a very short time, he accomplished many things for us. He made our center more professional, and gave us a sense of pride in ourselves. I think all of us can agree that he was a great person and we will miss him very much.
My condolences to his family and friends. He will truly be missed.

The Gabriel Perez Family had the great honor of calling Jim Dempsey our friend. We will never forget him, he will always be remembered with love and a smile in our hearts. He was the brother I was lacking and the friend I was needing. Our trust and loyalty was so great that we both had each other's house keys. Most importantly, Jim and Hillary were my children's favorite baby sitters. Our condolences to the Dempsey and McAllister families.
'I will miss going to the movies with you, Amigo. Thanks for the memories.' Love...Gabe
Jim,
Your memory will continue to place smiles on our faces, just like you did whenever your presence was near. May you continue to waltz thru your journey. May the Lord Bless and Strengthen the Dempsey family.
Although I only knew Jim for a couple of years, we were kindred spirits in Civil War reenacting as well as military service. Twice he served 'under my command' for the wild and woolly shoot-'em-ups in the streets of Laredo and we straggled together up and down the hills of Tennessee when we reenacted the Battle of Murphreesboro last year. Only last month, we discussed what we were going to do when we got too old to march with the young (below 50 years old) troopers. He will be so sorely missed.
All my prayers,
Mark D. 'Pete' Gunn, Major, USAF (retired)
2nd Corporal, Company K, 6th Texas Volunteer Infantry, CSA

Our sincerest condolences to the family of Jim Dempsey. Mr. Dempsey was like a brother in our family of Police Officers. His professionalism and caring demeanor will be greatly missed among our brother officers.
Again, our condolences to the family, from the Laredo Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 911.
I had a great priviledge in having met Mr. Dempsey. There is too much that can be said about this charismatic and professional individual and we as a community are lucky to have made his acquaintance. Your legendary story will not be forgotten. Thanks for the friendship and intellectual perspective of life. To the Dempsey family my sincerest condolences. God Bless You!
Jim, may your journeys continue.
Go soirbhi Dia Dhuit, mo chara.
I want to express my sincere condolences to Hillary and the family of Jim Dempsey. I am sorry for your loss. Perhaps God was feeling a bit dismayed last week by the state of current affairs and wanted to host an honored guest, sit back, toast, and laugh a little and marvel at it all...
If this is the case, it seems he couldn't have chosen a finer man.

Jim and your family will forever be in our hearts and prayers, and his memory will live,as long as we camp on the old tenting ground. We drank from the same canteen.RIP my old Pard
Jimbo was a great inspiration, he was 'The class act'. Rode a couple of missions with him at Halo III always looked towards working with someone who knew how Blessed and Special his talents were. His giving ways earned respect and I'm sure his place in Heaven. My heartfelt condolences to the Dempsey family...which by my count numbered in the thousands because of Jimbo's willingness to give of himself.
May God Bless You All
